POSTPONED: Select Committee on Animal Welfare – Petition for Redress

The Select Committee on Animal Welfare – Petition for Redress will be holding an oral evidence on the morning of Thursday 26th March 2015 at 10.30 am in Legislative Council Chamber. Evidence will be taken from Lyn Renshaw, Sanctuary Manager, MSPCA; Adrian Cannell, Welfare Officer, MSPCA and Raymond Cox, Principal, Milan Veterinary Practice (the MSPCA’s veterinary surgeon).

This will be the second oral evidence session to be held by this Committee – the last one having been held on 2nd March 2015 with representatives from the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture. The Committee was set up by Tynwald in response to a Petition for Redress presented by Ms Roseleen Harrison at St John’s on July 7th 2014 requesting that Tynwald consider the introduction of animal welfare legislation in the Isle of Man comparable to that contained in the UK Animal Welfare Act 2006.

The Select Committee’s Members are Mrs Kate Beecroft MHK (chair), Mrs Brenda Cannell MHK and Mr David Cretney MLC. The evidence will be taken in public; members of the public are welcome to attend.
