We are looking for one young person to represent the Isle of Man at the 2025 UK Youth Parliament.

Applications are open for young people aged 11 – 18 years old to represent the Isle of Man at the UK Youth Parliament which will be held in the House of Commons on 28^th February 2025. The successful applicant will be expected to deliver a short address from the Despatch Box alongside other representatives from the Crown Dependencies and British Overseas Territories on the topic of ‘Jobs, the Economy and Benefits’.

The topic was voted on by high schools from across the island in the ‘Make Your Mark’ ballot, an initiative driven by The House of Commons Speaker’s Office. Nearly 2000 students aged 11 to 18 took part, each person voting on the topic most important to them. ‘Jobs, the Economy and Benefits’ was the subject that most young people across the Crown Dependencies were concerned about.

As the Isle of Man is not part of the United Kingdom, and therefore ineligible to have an elected representative in the UK Youth Parliament, the Speaker of the House of Commons, Sir Lindsay Hoyle will preside over a special segment of the event dedicated to the Overseas Territories and Crown Dependencies. This will be the first time the Isle of Man will be represented.

Speaker of the House of Keys, the Hon Juan Watterson SHK, said he was ‘delighted by the positive response that so many young people across the island took part in the Make Your Mark ballot’ and adds that the upcoming UK Youth Parliament is ‘a unique opportunity for a young Island resident to represent their peers and the Isle of Man in Westminster alongside representatives from across the United Kingdom and the Overseas Territories.’

The Office of the Clerk of Tynwald will fund travel and accommodation costs for the successful applicant and their parent or guardian.

• The closing date for submissions is Monday 27^th January 2025.
• Applications are open to those aged 11 to 18 reflecting the ages of the current members of the UK Youth Parliament.
• Applicants and a parent or guardian must be able to travel to the UK between Thursday 27^th February – Saturday 1^st March 2025.
