Virtual Tynwald resumes as Legislative Buildings close

03/03/2021

Following the announcement made by the Chief Minister yesterday, 2nd March 2021, the presiding officers determined that the Legislative Buildings would close with immediate effect. All sittings of Tynwald, its Branches and committees are to be held virtually.

The scheduled sittings of the House of Keys and Legislative Council were held virtually yesterday. All public proceedings can be heard on the Tynwald listen again audio service on the Tynwald website: https://www.tynwald.org.im/business/listen/

Next Tuesday, 9th March 2021, there will be an extraordinary virtual sitting of Tynwald Court at 10am, followed by a virtual sitting of the House of Keys. The Legislative Council will sit virtually at 10.30am on Wednesday 10th March 2021.

Public proceedings can be heard, as usual, on Manx Radio and via the Tynwald listen audio service on the Tynwald website.

All staff are now working from home except where necessary in support of virtual sittings. The public counter is closed and tours of the Legislative Buildings are not available. The various teams in the Clerk of Tynwald’s Office may be contacted by post and email in the normal way, as can Members of Tynwald. Telephone contact is also still possible but please note that if you call the Legislative Buildings you will need to leave a voicemail including your number, and wait for someone to call you back.
