Review of social security etc: PAC investigates
21/03/2014The Public Accounts Committee is taking oral evidence next week from the Chief Executive of the Department of Social Care, Mrs Yvette Mellor, and the former Social Care Minister, Hon Chris Robertshaw MHK.
On 26th November 2013 in the House of Keys, Mr Chris Thomas MHK tabled a Question to the then Minister for Social Care, Mr Robertshaw, about the Department’s Review of social security, National Insurance and related policies. Mr Robertshaw mentioned as part of his answer that a firm of consultants had been commissioned to assist the DSC and the Treasury. In a letter circulated on 29th November 2013, Mr Robertshaw revealed that the cost of the consultants for the first phase of the work had been £100,687 and for the second phase would be £675,025.
The Committee intends to take evidence about this expenditure on Thursday 27th March 2014 at 3.00 pm in the Legislative Council Chamber, Legislative Buildings, Bucks Road, Douglas. The evidence will be taken in public; members of the public are welcome to attend.
