​The Clerk of Tynwald has today informed Members of Tynwald that Mr Tim Crookall has withdrawn his nomination from the Legislative Council election which will take place on Thursday 12th March. 

Mr Crookall has informed Members that: 

‘It has been my honour and privilege since 2006 to represent the constituents and residents of Peel and the Island in Tynwald as Member of the House of Keys for Peel and latterly as a Member of the Legislative Council.

As we approach the hustings for the Legislative Elections I have thought long and hard about my future in national politics. My passion and interest for the job have never wavered.

But I have come to the conclusion that as I am contemplating standing at the 2021 General Election for Glenfaba and Peel It would be right to stand back now from seeking re-election to the Legislative Council.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank my nominator and sponsors Mr Rob Callister, Minister Skelly, Mrs Barber and Mr Hooper. I hope Honourable Members do not feel let down by my decision, but are assured of my motive and my desire to continue serving in public life helping to deal with the challenges our Island faces and the welfare of the people in the west of the Island.

I wish you all the very best for the remainder of this term of office.’
