The Constitutional and Legal Affairs and Justice Committee, a Standing Committee of Tynwald, is currently investigating legal services on the Island. The remit of the inquiry includes the regulation of legal services by the Isle of Man Law Society and the Advocates’ Disciplinary Tribunal, the process of becoming a Manx advocate, and the proposed Public Defender’s Scheme.   The Committee will hear evidence on this topic on Monday 4th March 2019 commencing at 2.30pm from Mr Geoff Kermeen, Managing Director of Keystone Law Isle of Man.    

The hearing will take place in public in the Legislative Council Chamber, Legislative Buildings, Bucks Road, Douglas.  Members of the public are welcome to attend; proceedings will also be streamed live via the Tynwald audio webcasting service.  The Committee was established by Tynwald in October 2017. The Members elected to the Committee are Mrs Jane Poole-Wilson MLC (Chair), Mr Lawrie Hooper MHK, and Mr Chris Robertshaw MHK.
