House of Keys: Nominations for Chief Minister
05/10/2021The rules and procedure for the nomination and election of the Island’s Chief Minister are laid down in the Standing Orders of the House of Keys.
The Secretary of the House of Keys has so far received the following proposals under Standing Order 12.2(1):
Dr Allinson, proposed by Dr Haywood
Mr Cannan, proposed by Mrs Barber
Further proposals may be made up until 5pm today, and any which are received will be released to the media on receipt.
In order to progress to the next stage of the process, each candidate must send a written statement specifying the policies which, if appointed, he or she intends to pursue to the Secretary of the House of Keys by 5pm on Thursday, 7th October. The statements will be issued to the Press on receipt and, in any event, by 5.30pm on Thursday.
The House of Keys will sit for the purpose of nominating the Chief Minister at 10am on Tuesday, 12th October 2021.
