    Members Profile

    The Bishop, of the Church of England Diocese of Sodor and Man, occupies this seat on the Legislative Council by virtue of his or her position (ex officio) for as long as he or she holds office.

    The Right Reverend Patricia Hillas is the 88th Bishop of Sodor and Man. On 10th October 2024 in York Minster The Right Reverend Patricia Hillas was consecrated and ordained as the next Bishop of Sodor and Man by the Archbishop of York. The Enthronement as Bishop was held at Peel Cathedral on 16th November 2024.

    Personal

    Tricia was born in 1966 in Kuala Lumpur to an Indian mother and British father and moved to the UK with her family in 1971.
    She was educated at University of East London and Birkbeck College, University of London. Following a career as a youth and social worker, part of which she specialised in supporting those diagnosed with HIV and AIDS, she trained for ministry by completing the North Thames Ministerial Training Course validated by Middlesex University in 2002.
    She served her title at St Mark’s Kensal Rise, in the Diocese of London, and was ordained Priest in 2003.
    Tricia served as Vicar of St Barnabas, Northolt Park, from 2005 and was appointed Canon Pastor at St Paul’s Cathedral in 2014.
    In 2020 Tricia took up a role as Chaplain to the Speaker of the House of Commons whilst also serving as Priest in Charge of St Mary at Hill, City of London.
    After leaving St Mary at Hill in 2021 she served jointly as Speaker’s Chaplain in Parliament and at Westminster Abbey as Canon Steward and Archdeacon of Westminster.

    Where you ask me to assist you as a member of Tynwald to resolve a problem I will infer that you are giving me consent to process your information for the purpose of assisting you.

    Sharing of Information

    Where you provide personal information to me it will be used only for the purposes for which it was provided.
    If the law allows, I may disclose information about you to other Tynwald Members, organisations or Isle of Man Government Departments to assist with your case.

     Unless specifically requested by you not to, I reserve the right to hold your personal data for the duration of my time as a Tynwald Member.

    The law mandates me to protect your personal information. 
    Access to the personal data you provide will be securely controlled and all processing will be undertaken in accordance with, and as permitted by, the requirements of the Data Protection Act 2018.
