Constitution of the Isle of Man: call for evidence

The Standing Committee of Tynwald on Constitutional and Legal Affairs and Justice is reviewing the constitutional arrangements of the Isle of Man, and is interested in hearing from the public in relation to this inquiry. The Committee wishes to understand the effectiveness of the current constitutional arrangements of the Isle of Man, and what could be improved in the future.

The constitution was last debated by Tynwald on 22nd November 2000. The report by the Council of Ministers which was the subject of that debate can be read here. The Committee has decided to re-examine the constitution in the light of events which have taken place over the past two decades.

Submissions to a short questionnaire can be made online here by Thursday 13th October 2022.

The Members elected to the Committee are Miss Tanya August-Hanson MLC (Chair), Mr Stu Peters MHK, and Mr David Ashford MHK.
