The Tynwald Library is to host an exhibition of photographs by Paul Dougherty that reflect his passion for the Isle of Man - motor sport in particular - and international travel.
Divided into five distinct themes: the TT, Tynwald, natural history, people and scenic views, ‘From TT to Tynwald’ is a highly personal collection of photographs by Mr Dougherty, a member of the Isle of Man Photographic Society whose work has featured not only in local publications including Moods of Mann, Gallery and the Island’s leading business magazines, but also in the Sunday Times.
Mr Dougherty said: ‘My previous experience as a police photographer ignited my interest in taking up photography as a leisure pursuit. To be a photographer in the Isle of Man offers so many wonderful opportunities: from the beauty of the landscape to celebrating the island’s heritage and, of course, the thrill of motor sports. In this exhibition I have tried to capture moments in time and what I feel makes the Island such a special place, also to share with the viewer my fascination with other lands and other cultures.’
‘From TT to Tynwald’ will run from Monday November 10th to Friday November 21st from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday in the Tynwald Library.
Located on the ground floor of the Legislative Buildings in Finch Road the Tynwald Library exhibition space provides schools, youth, community and sporting organisations, as well as private individuals and commercial enterprises, with a secure, easily managed area in which to mount Manx-themed displays. There is no rental charge, only a small commission fee for sales by commercial operators.
