News: The Oral Evidence hearing scheduled for 11.30 am today, 31st May, has been delayed due to travel disruption for the witnesses.
It is hoped that the oral evidence hearing will go ahead today. A further announcement will be made as soon as possible.
 
 

News: BBC to appear before Tynwald Committee at 2pm 31/05/2018

The Select Committee of Tynwald on Public Service Broadcasting intends to hear oral evidence in public from Mr Ken MacQuarrie, Director of Nations and Regions, BBC; Ms Laura Ellis, Head of Digital, BBC English Regions; and Luke McCullough, Parliamentary and Corporate Affairs Manager, BBC, on Thursday 31st May 2018 at the delayed start time of 2 pm. The evidence will be heard in the Legislative Council Chamber, Legislative Buildings, Bucks Road, Douglas. Mr MacQuarrie and Mr McCullough will be giving evidence via a Skype connection and Ms Ellis will give evidence in person. Members of the public are welcome to attend or to listen via the audio webcast service on the Tynwald website.

Committee Remit

That Tynwald reaffirms its commitment to public service broadcasting and is of the opinion that it should be provided in an efficient manner using a variety of channels; and that a Select Committee of three Members be appointed to review the current licence conditions, delivery model and funding thereof, and connected matters, to take account of technological advances and demographic changes; and report with recommendations by July 2018.
