Services provided to members of the public
Tynwald Library The Tynwald Library and Parliamentary Bookshop is located on the Ground Floor of the refurbished Legislative Buildings in Douglas, accessed from the Finch Road entrance.
It specialises in publications relating to current parliamentary and government business.
Laws and Parliamentary Papers
The Tynwald Library stocks, or can print on demand, all Acts of Tynwald, as well as most Orders, Regulations and Rules. These, and current Papers laid before Tynwald by Parliamentary Committees and Isle of Man Government Departments, are available to read in the Library or to purchase from the Parliamentary Bookshop, in the same Ground Floor area.
Internet Access
Many Reports and other information are made available on the websites operated by:
Tynwald: www.tynwald.org.im (updated by Library staff); and
Isle of Man Government: www.gov.im
Free access to these websites is available in the Tynwald Library. A small charge is made for any printing done.
Reference Library
A small comprehensive collection of Reference Books is open to be used by any persons. The Library collection includes past parliamentary and government documents and repealed laws. A loan facility is not available.
Souvenirs and Other Items
For anyone interested in the history and workings of the Manx parliamentary system, a range of the small number of recent Isle of Man political books are sold in the Parliamentary Bookshop, along with free Library Monographs and leaflets explaining aspects of the parliament of the Isle of Man.
A small selection of gift items, some exclusive to the Parliamentary Bookshop incorporating the Tynwald crest, is available for purchase.>

Tynwald Parliamentary Administration Office
Enquiries
Parliamentary Administrators are the first point of contact for any enquiry from a member of the public regarding Tynwald Members or legislation, either by telephone, +44 (0)1624 685500, by fax +44 (0)1624 685504 or by eMail addressed to enquiries@tynwald.org.im. A “Blue Card” is free to members of the public which details the names and addresses of the Members of Tynwald, the Officers of Tynwald and the sitting dates of the Legislature.
Constituencies
If a member of the public is not sure in which constituency they live, advice can be given.
Parliamentary Papers
Copies of the Order Papers for sittings of the Legislature, Question Papers, written answers to questions and copies of the Votes and Proceedings can be collected, free of charge, from the Tynwald Library or from the reception desk on Level 2 of the Legislative Buildings, Finch Road, Douglas.
Tours of the Legislative Chambers
Tours of the Legislative Chambers, which usually take approximately one hour, are available for members of the public. During recess, tours take place at 10.00 am on Tuesdays and Thursdays. At all other times it would be appreciated if 48 hours notice could be given, when every effort would be made to facilitate persons wishing to take a tour of the Chambers. Contact details for this service are above. Please be aware that due to the age of the building, some parts of the tour are accessible only via stairs.
Circulation of Mail to Members of Tynwald
It is not possible to accept mass mailings to Members of Tynwald unless it is sponsored by a Member of Tynwald. Alternatively, a set of labels for all the Members will be provided (free of charge) on request from the Administration Office in order that the mail can be sent directly to their home addresses.
Likewise, it is not possible to circulate eMail's to Members. The contact details of individual Members of Tynwald can be found in the preface pages of the Manx Telecom Phone Book or can be supplied by the Parliamentary Administration Office.
Barrool Suite Hire
The Barrool Suite is available for hire by private individuals during the evenings and weekends. Enquiries regarding the hire should be made in the first instance to the Tynwald Seneschal on +44 (0)1624 651534. Terms and conditions of hire are available here.
Petitions for Redress
It is advised that a petitioner makes an appointment with a Clerk to discuss their petition for redress to ensure that it is within the Standing Orders of Tynwald, before it is presented at the Tynwald Ceremony. Details of how to present a petition are available here.
