The President of Tynwald, the Hon Steve Rodan OBE MLC, has said that attending an investiture ceremony to receive his OBE was ‘a truly memorable occasion’.
Mr President was appointed OBE in the 2019 Queen’s Birthday Honours list for outstanding service and dedication to the Isle of Man.
He received his OBE medal from His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales on Wednesday February 5 at Buckingham Palace, where he was joined by his wife, Mrs Ana Maria Rodan, his daughters Moira Rodan and Mrs Lisa Franks and his sister Mrs Helen Kopal.
Reflecting on the ceremony he said: ‘It was a truly memorable occasion receiving the award from the Prince of Wales, and I was
delighted to have my family present.
‘The Prince recalled his past visits to the Isle of Man, and presiding at St John’s on Tynwald Day some years ago. He was also interested in the Manx National Tartan I was wearing; I was able to tell him it was unique amongst tartans in that it has seven colours. No other tartan has more than six.’
