The Tynwald Public Accounts Committee will take oral evidence in public from Adrian Jenner, Director of Parliamentary Relations and Linda Mills, Parliamentary Relations Manager, with the National Audit Office.
Mr Jenner held multiple roles in the House of Commons including the Public Accounts Committee, before joining the NAO. He has also worked with international organisations including the British-Irish Parliamentary Assembly, the Inter Parliamentary Union, the Council of Europe and the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.
Mrs Mills is responsible for the NAO’s relationship with the Westminster Public Accounts Committee. She has worked with the NAO for 18 years mainly as an Audit Manager of NAO Value of Money reports and investigations. Her most recent reports include the WannaCry cyber-attack and the NHS as well as a number of reports on children’s service. Prior to this her work has covered grant making, in government, estate management and government digital services.
The aim of the evidence session is to increase awareness and understanding of the role of a Supreme Audit Institution. This is a function the Isle of Man has made provision for in the Tynwald Auditor General Act, but the legislation is not fully in force.
Mr Jenner and Mrs Mills will also meet with Tynwald Members to discuss the work of UK Public Accounts Committee and Auditor General.
The evidence will be taken in public on Monday 27th January 2020 at 11.00am in the Legislative Council Chamber, Legislative Buildings, Bucks Road, Douglas. Members of the public are welcome to attend or to listen via the audio webcast service on the Tynwald website.
The Members elected to the Committee are Hon Juan Watterson SHK (Chair), Mr Tim Crookall MLC (Vice-Chair), Mr David Cretney MLC, Mrs Jane Poole Wilson MLC, Mr Rob Callister MHK and Mr Chris Robertshaw MHK.
