Suicide: further oral evidence scheduled

​The Social Affairs Policy Review Committee, a Standing Committee of Tynwald, is conducting an inquiry into the topic of suicide. The Committee has been receiving and publishing written evidence. On 8th March 2019, the Committee heard oral evidence on suicide from John Kermode of Psychology.im and from Gill Porter of Isle of Man Samaritans.

The Committee will now hear further oral evidence on the topic on 18th and 22nd March 2019 in the Legislative Council Chamber, Legislative Buildings, Bucks Road Douglas.

The Committee will hear from the persons listed below at the times stated.

18th March 2019

2.30pm Representatives of Cruse Bereavement Care: Gillian Skinner, Young Persons Bereavement Specialist, and Joney Faragher, Children’s Bereavement Specialist.

3.15pm Julie Bibby and Hannah Le Couteur of Government Staff Welfare.

4pm Dee Beldon of the Isle of Man Health & Care Association.

The members of the Committee appointed by Tynwald are Mr David Cretney MLC (Chairman), Mr Martyn Perkins MHK, and Ms Julie Edge MHK.

The evidence will be taken in public; members of the public are welcome to attend. The evidence can also be heard via the “live and listen again” audio webcast service on the Tynwald website.
