Poverty: Select Committee to hear evidence

 

​In April 2018 a Select Committee of Tynwald was established to examine issues relating to poverty. After considering written evidence, the Committee has decided to take initial oral evidence in relation to the definition(s) of poverty.

The Committee will hear oral evidence from the following witnesses at the times and dates listed below:

Monday 3rd December 2018

10.30am Michael Manning (Graih); Neal Mellon (IOM Foodbank); Lieutenant Dylan Nieuwoudt and Derek Norton (Salvation Army).

Thursday 6th December 2018

10.00am Ross Stephens, Director – Social Policy, and Victoria McLauchlan, Deputy Director - Operations, Social Security Division, Treasury

The evidence will be taken in public in the Legislative Council Chamber, Legislative Buildings, Bucks Road, Douglas. Members of the public are welcome to attend or to listen via the audio webcast service on the Tynwald website.

The Members elected to the Committee are Hon. Juan Watterson SHK (Chair), Miss Tanya August-Hanson MLC and Mr Jason Moorhouse MHK.
